Holiday Gifts for Pets

The holidays are officially here! As seasonal festivities and traditions go into full swing, many of us are busy cooking, decorating, and checking things off various shopping lists. Have you decided what to get your pet yet? If not, read on! In this article, a Broken Arrow vet lists some great gift ideas for pets.

As you’ve probably noticed, Fido and Fluffy are both very fond of naps. Consider getting your drowsy pet a comfy new bed to snooze off in. You can find some great pet beds in stores, but you can also get creative and make your own. For instance, you can make a whimsical bed by painting an old hard-shell suitcase, and then adding a soft pillow for bedding. Look online for more great DIY pet beds.

Homemade Treats

If there’s one thing our furry companions are enthusiastic about, it’s food. Homemade snacks are a great gift for pets! Just be sure to choose only ingredients that are safe for our four-legged friends. Some things to avoid include garlic and onions; nuts; chocolate; caffeine; alcohol; grapes, currants, and raisins; meat on the bone; raw dough or yeast; and products containing xylitol. Ask your vet for more information.

Dogs and cats are absolutely adorable when they are feeling frisky. Your pet’s play sessions aren’t just fun to watch, though: they’re actually very beneficial. Playing encourages healthy activity, and keeps Fido and Fluffy from feeling bored. A fun play session can also help reduce many behavioral issues, like digging. Fill your furry buddy’s stocking with some cute new toys.

Veterinary Appointment

We know, coming to see us may not be your pet’s favorite thing to do. However, your four-legged buddy will be much healthier with proper veterinary care. Regular examinations are very important, as they greatly increase the chances of any potential health problems being caught—and therefore treated—early on. Ask your vet to recommend an appointment schedule.

Animals are truly special gifts. Their devotion, love, and affection brighten up our lives, complete our families, and make our houses into homes. At the end of the day, our furry friends really want nothing more than to spend time with us. Enjoy some quiet quality time with your pet.

Happy Holidays! Please feel free to contact us, your local Broken Arrow animal clinic, anytime. We are always happy to help!
